At Advia Credit Union, security is a priority. Secure Sockets Layer Security is used to keep sensitive information sent across the internet encrypted so that only the intended recipient can access it.

Secure Sockets Layer

Transmitting sensitive information across the internet has always been a security concern. Before financial institutions could make online services available, infrastructure was designed to keep data safe while it was transmitted from a personal computer to an institution’s server.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technology emerged as the industry standard for securing data while it travels across the internet. SSL is used worldwide in online stores, credit unions, banks, and on all other web sites where information from an individual needs to be kept confidential.

The three most important services SSL provides

Confidentiality:
SSL keeps your information confidential through the encryption or scrambling process.

Integrity:
When an SSL certificate is used, the information becomes unreadable to everyone except for the server you are sending the information to. This is important because the information you send on the internet is passed from computer to computer to get to the destination server.

Authentication:
Advia Credit Union has been issued certified secure certificates from Go Daddy Secure Certificate Authority to communicate with you, the member, with SSL technology. Digital certificates act as a digital ID that users or computers are authentic. These certificates are utilized to add security to our Digital Banking and our online applications.
